Enjoy a meal of “contemporary luxury” at Cyrus – Healdsburg, California
March 12, 2010
The wine areas of California have some world famous restaurants that can be enjoyed along with its vineyards. The French Laundry in Yountville is, perhaps, the most renown. But, not far behind, is Cyrus.

We had a reservation at Cyrus in downtown Healdsburg. We did the eight course meal with the inexpensive wine pairing, which we should have shared. It was wayyyyy toooo much wine. It was a good thing that we could walk to the restaurant, because we could not have driven home, even though it was about half a mile. One thing we learned - share the wine!!!!!! The food was fine, but VERY expensive. There are too many other restaurants in Healdsburg that are very good, and you should try them. Oh well, it was our Honeymoon.

Being our honeymoon, I wanted to make sure we had a meal at one of the famous restaurants in the Valleys. The sommelier from one of our favorite Denver restaurants, Mizuna, recommended Cyrus as an alternate to our first choice, The French Laundry, since it is within walking distance of our B & B. We were not disappointed by the food, but, I have to admit, by not sharing the wine, we did a disservice to the food. And be prepared to drop a huge chunk of change. The 5 and 8 course meals are $102 and $130 per person, respectively. Wine pairings, sorry Marla, not in the slightest bit inexpensive, double the cost. I’m glad we did it because I learned my palate is not deserving of such fine food. And my wallet is definitely not comfortable trying to satiate my undiscerning palate!
