Where we ate

The Lady and Son’s Restaurant is Paula Deen’s contribution to Savannah’s cuisine scene. Since her cooking show is nationally prominent, visiting her restaurant for a meal seems like the right thing to do.

She said

marlaI have to admit that I was not all that thrilled with our dinner at this restaurant. I love the Food Network channel and Paula’s show, but I felt that the restaurant was a little too commercial. It was my idea to go there, as Bill had no idea of who Paula Deen was. The prices were around $20.00/entrée. I’m glad we tried it, but don’t need to go back.

He said

billI have to confess, I had never heard of Paula Deen or her cooking show prior to Marla mentioning it. But what the heck, it must be good if she has her own cooking show, so we go for it. It is a very busy place and has lots of down home, southern charm. There are multiple floors in the restaurant, but the first floor seems to be the prime spot. As for the food, I suppose I should have expected the preponderance to be deep fried, but I never anticipated so much butter. I now know all of Paula’s recipes begin – and often end – with a stick of butter! Aside from being enthralled with Marla, I can’t remember what we ate, save it was very tasty, albeit too rich for my palate. We did have the waiter take our picture and we still display it as a pleasant memory of our trip.
